Cesar Jung-Harada

Cesar Jung-Harada is an inventor, educator, and environmentalist whose work combines technology, design, and activism to tackle some of the planet’s most urgent challenges. Born in France to a Japanese father and French mother, Cesar’s multicultural roots shaped his global perspective and innovative spirit. His groundbreaking invention, Protei, a shape-shifting sailing robot, was inspired by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill and designed to clean oil spills and collect marine data. Committed to open-source innovation, Cesar freely shares his designs to encourage collaboration on environmental solutions. As the founder of MakerBay, a makerspace in Hong Kong, he empowers young people and entrepreneurs to create sustainable technologies that address climate change and pollution. For Cesar, invention is more than engineering—it’s about fostering a culture of care, resilience, and global collaboration to protect our shared future.
